London Fashion Week AW14 Days 1 & 2

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

Hello lovelies!

I'm back today with the first lot of my favourite collections from LFW and my oh my are they good! As I say every single year the London shows are always the ones I look forward most to simply because 99% of my most loved designers show there. One day I'll make it to LFW and then I can die in peace ;)

First off is Orla Kiely who showed off her skills with another beautifully cute and feminine collection. Collars, pretty t-strap shoes, pretty swing skirts and a whole load of fun prints summed up to create a well rounded classic Kiely collection that I am almost drooling over. I almost think there's a hint of Parisian chic to be seen from the umbrellas and elegant macs.

Staying along the theme of pretty feminine pastels and shapes Holly Fulton did feminine but in a different way. Powder blues and pinks still featured but this time in delicate graphic prints and intricate designs stiched into beautiful satin and silk. Even when bolder colours like red and black were introduced Fulton still managed to bring about a fun romantic look to her pieces.

Eudon Choi leaned more towards beautiful tailoring and fresh injections of colours. These harmonised suited looks had the one-up on all the other tailored collections due to Choi's playfulness with fur, stand out shoes and patterning.

What was special about Christopher Raeburn's functional, militant collection this year was his focus on sustainable fashion. He used left over scraps of material (known as cabbages in the fashion world)  to put together beautiful looks and 'up-cycle' material into actual wearable pieces. The stand out piece from this collection was the pop out parka which was fashioned from two different pieces of material and it seems Raeburn has a way with outerwear as his fur lined anoraks were worn by all the helpers at LFW.

And Sibling were back with their iconic knitwear bringing out a challenging collection of the highest quality knitwear out there. The first part of the show featured wearable enough looks that still emulated the Sibling sense of playful anarchy but it was towards the end of the show, when the gowns came out that you really got to see the spirit of the designers.

Right that's it from me about days 1 and 2 of LFW AW14 I have to say I'm seriously tempted to spend a ridiculous about of money on some Holly Fulton or Orla Kiely!

Rediscovered Childhood

Sunday, 5 January 2014

Hello lovelies!

First thing's first, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy New Years and hopefully you set off 2014 with a big bang! I certainly know I enjoyed the first few days of the new year celebrating with friends and perhaps indulging in a few not so very non-alcoholic drinks here and there ;) Even though it's taken me a few days to recuperate fully I'm glad my New Years celebrations finally lived up to their expectations.

But New Years has come and gone, resolutions have been made and broken, and we're all in that awkward middle ground feeling slightly depressed that Christmas and its joys have left us considerably pudgier than before and twiddling our thumbs waiting for that dreaded day when we must return to work, school or university.

However fear not, I have come to rescue you my dears! Whilst being a safe techno whiz and backing up my photos on a hard drive I came across some cracking childhood photos of yours truly.. And since I'm such a generous soul I thought I'd cheer you all up by sharing them with you so you can laugh along with me (and maybe burn off some calories too).

Disclaimer: I don't take responsibility for the outrageous clothes featured in these photos. It was the 90's, one has to make exceptions.... Oh and apologies to any siblings who may be featured...

Swan Lake standard right there.

I went for the classic tracksuit and horrifying face paint costume this year obviously....

Oh they had no idea what they had started giving me that glass ;)

Possibly the best dressed and co-ordinated group of kids ever...... Denim days forever!

Working the double denim trend before it was even a trend.

So after those photos you definitely can't deny that I'm pretty committed to this blog if I'm willing to embarrass myself on the internet. But I do love looking at old photos to help me remember all those years ago since my memory is quite atrocious and also to remind me never, ever, ever to get a bob and a fringe at the same time.

Hope 2014 is treating you well!

A Bright Christmas Day

Thursday, 26 December 2013

Hello lovelies!

So I'm sitting here watching The Snowman on TV, the day after Christmas, and still feeling considerably stuffed after the monster of a turkey dinner my mom put together. I'm talking turkey, ham, veg, potatoes, and two helpings of dessert! Hopefully all your Christmas Days went as well as mine did being surrounded by family and friends and celebrating together.

I thought I'd show you my Christmas Day outfit and also a few photos snapped during the evening.

 Dress: Warehouse
Coat: Zara
Heels: River Island
Bracelet: H&M
Ring: My great-aunt's
Nail Varnish: Inglot Breathable O2M 618

I've been in love with the iconic pink M&S coat that was brought out this A/W but I never thought the cut and style suited me, until I walked into Zara and spotted this beauty hanging on a rail. It's super cosy and a lovely jacket to brighten up your outfit if you're an all black gal like me.

And to round it all up here are a few photos I took to capture the warm Christmassy night we had.

I'm now off to get ready to demolish yet another full turkey dinner at my grandparents, wish both my waistline and me luck!
