My New Podcast Must

Thursday, 18 February 2016

Hello everyone :)

Today I'm going to introduce you to a life changing podcast. As I've mentioned before on the blog I'm someone who really struggles with body image and disordered eating. My pieces (I'm no longer calling them 'problems' anymore) and my negative thoughts affect me everyday and over all I can get the sense that I'm out of touch with my body and soul.

In my journey to living more consciously I'm not just looking to lead a better lifestyle for the good of the planet but also for the good of my soul and inner peace. Before you start to fix the world you must also fix yourself. And that is why I'm so lucky to have found Katie Dalebout's Wellness Wonderland podcasts.

Now don't panic! I at first was a bit hesitant about listening to the show because I thought it was going to be your typical spiritual show where you're listening and it all sounds well and good but you actually have no idea whats going on and feel like you're in way over your head. With Katie's podcast she talks to all these amazing people in such a way that I can easily understand everything thats being touched on and the content really did touched me.

Katie covers all sorts of topics with her guests for example holistic health, body image, mindful living, disordered eating, and just about anything in-between. The first podcast I listened to was Episode 009 with Isabel Foxen and it spoke to my own history so strongly I was hooked from the beginning.

For anyone who is looking to understand a bit more about their inner pieces or wants to dip their toe into the world of health and wellness this podcast is the one to listen to and I couldn't recommend it enough. You can find them here or on iTunes.

Read With Me

Sunday, 1 February 2015

Hello lovelies!

When I was younger I was a serious book worm, I'd read through a book in a day and excitedly start onto another. I remember getting 14 books for Christmas one year! However in the past couple of years I find I just haven't been reading as much, either I'm too tired, busy with work or would rather relax and watch a movie. But that stops here. A late New Years resolution to read more.

My aim is to get through one book a month which I think is pretty achievable especially since I have my Kindle so I can pretty much read on the go without having to trek a book around with me.

To start myself off I thought I'd get myself back into in books by looking through some of my favourite books and a few interesting 'fashiony' ones I love to flick through with lots of photographs.

Jane Austen's Persuasion is one of my all time favourite Austen books. It's about a woman named Anne Elliot who was once persuaded not to marry the love of her life Captain Wentworth. Her love for him is again rekindled when she meets him again through his sister and there are loads of events that happen through out the book that make you want to root for team Elliot-Wentworth. If you love this book then try out Emma

I'm currently reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson and am so engrossed by it. I started it on my journey back home to Ireland from uni and the way the story line is mysteriously unfolding makes me so curious I can't stop reading.

If you want a heavy duty highly detailed account of fashion's life cycle Fashion since 1900 by Valerie Mendes is the one for you. I must admit it did take me a while to get through it but I found it highly interesting and if you really want to get into the knitty gritty of things give it a try.

Vogue: The Covers is a collection of all the beautiful magazine covers over 120 years and a great coffee table book to flick through.

If you want an easy read Alexa Ching's IT is short but a tells some funny/awkward story's of the 'it; girl's growing up.

Another light but interesting read is Fashion That Changed The World by Jennifer Croll and gives a general overview of the evolution of the world of fashion through the ages accompanied by some great photos.

My 'to read' list if forever growing but I'm so excited to get my brain working again and embrace my inner book worm :) If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thanks for reading,
Ciara xx

Smooth, Soft and Silky Hair?

Wednesday, 21 January 2015

Hello lovelies!

So I have a good'un to share with you today to get your locks in tip top silky smooth condition.

A few months ago I ordered the TIGI S Factor Smoothing Conditioner from FeelUnique because my hair was just looking a bit lack lustre and frizzy. I can safely say this stuff rocks. Every time I use it my hair always feels so soft and smooth even when I let it dry naturally which is saying something because my hair is naturally curly and a frizzy.

I wish I had bought the shampoo and conditioner as a set but I was already pretty happy with my Aussie Mega Moist everyday shampoo but as soon as I've gone through the bottle I'll definitely try out the shampoo too.

Back off to work now!

Heart Stopping Elie Saab Fall Couture 2014

Thursday, 10 July 2014

Hello lovelies!

When I checked the PCW schedule for Wednesday I practically screeched for joy when I saw Elie Saab's name grace the list, my sister can testify to that.

Every season collection I am never disappointing with Elie Saab and the beautiful wonderful creations that come down the runway and this year was no exception.

Utterly romantic and lavish embellishments were definitely on the mind when the mood boards were drawn up for this haute couture collection. Generously beaded and ornate prints and laces were to be spotted on the gorgeous flowing gowns with romantic v-cuts and curve emphasizing waists.

The colour palette was also worth taking note for this fall. Warm navys, pinks, burgundys, golds and of course startling whites were featured in the looks not just as tone-on-tone compliments but as soft ombrés. I thought the fur shoulder wraps were a nice touch too.

This is one of my many favourite looks.

Who else just shed a tear for this beauty?

London Fashion Week AW14 Days 1 & 2

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

Hello lovelies!

I'm back today with the first lot of my favourite collections from LFW and my oh my are they good! As I say every single year the London shows are always the ones I look forward most to simply because 99% of my most loved designers show there. One day I'll make it to LFW and then I can die in peace ;)

First off is Orla Kiely who showed off her skills with another beautifully cute and feminine collection. Collars, pretty t-strap shoes, pretty swing skirts and a whole load of fun prints summed up to create a well rounded classic Kiely collection that I am almost drooling over. I almost think there's a hint of Parisian chic to be seen from the umbrellas and elegant macs.

Staying along the theme of pretty feminine pastels and shapes Holly Fulton did feminine but in a different way. Powder blues and pinks still featured but this time in delicate graphic prints and intricate designs stiched into beautiful satin and silk. Even when bolder colours like red and black were introduced Fulton still managed to bring about a fun romantic look to her pieces.

Eudon Choi leaned more towards beautiful tailoring and fresh injections of colours. These harmonised suited looks had the one-up on all the other tailored collections due to Choi's playfulness with fur, stand out shoes and patterning.

What was special about Christopher Raeburn's functional, militant collection this year was his focus on sustainable fashion. He used left over scraps of material (known as cabbages in the fashion world)  to put together beautiful looks and 'up-cycle' material into actual wearable pieces. The stand out piece from this collection was the pop out parka which was fashioned from two different pieces of material and it seems Raeburn has a way with outerwear as his fur lined anoraks were worn by all the helpers at LFW.

And Sibling were back with their iconic knitwear bringing out a challenging collection of the highest quality knitwear out there. The first part of the show featured wearable enough looks that still emulated the Sibling sense of playful anarchy but it was towards the end of the show, when the gowns came out that you really got to see the spirit of the designers.

Right that's it from me about days 1 and 2 of LFW AW14 I have to say I'm seriously tempted to spend a ridiculous about of money on some Holly Fulton or Orla Kiely!

Thanks for reading.
