Updated Daily Skincare Routine

Monday, 12 January 2015

Hello lovelies!

Now I must confess I'm not one of those people who enjoys slathering on millions of fancy products every morning and night and has beautifully glowing, baby soft skin. And unfortunately I'm not blessed with naturally perfect skin so I can't afford to have too many lazy, go to bed without washing my face nights. But frankly I can't be bothered faffing about with products I have to read the back of to know what they do.

I tend to have red, clogged pored, dry and bumpy skin. When I say bumpy I don't mean pimply I mean little bumps that come up from under the skin. Usually I don't have many problems with my skin but when I can back from uni my skin was in a state.

So give my skin a reboot I've decided to gently exfoliate in the mornings following up with a replenishing gel and then a hydrating gel. In the evening times I just switch up my exfoliator for a gentle gel cleanser as I don't tend to wear much stubborn make-up that can be tough to remove.

Then (if I can remember/am bothered) I'll try to do a mask twice a week either to unclog my pores or to clarify my skin.

Cleaning the up the skin

I always go for a safe, gentle gel to leave my face feeling clean and refreshed without being too harsh. Simple is always a good choice if you happen to have sensitive skin.

I've recently been trying out some REN products and I'm really enjoying them. My skins noticeably softer and less bumpy after using the rosa centifolia gentle exfoliating cleanser and it isn't too drying at all.

Post wash repair

I use the REN clearcalm 3 replenishing gel cream after I wash my face for a more balanced and brighter skin tone.

I haven't been using any traditional cream moisturisers lately, instead opting for a really hydrating serum from Avène.

Pamper night masks

If I feel my skin is a bit red and looking tired and damaged the REN clearcalm 3 clarity restoring mask does a great job of making my skin feel nourished and giving it a healthy glow.

I also use the quick fix facials exfoliating scrub mask to de-gunk those pores and give my face a good scrub.

After a term at uni my skin was suffering from stress and work and breaking out left right and centre but after switching up my skincare routine I feel there's been a big improvement and hopefully if I don't get too lazy I'll try keep it up. I think the key is to keep it simple.

Elle Style Awards

Tuesday, 12 February 2013

Hello lovelies.

Happy Pancake Tuesday to all. I hope you've had a fair helping of pancake goodness for brekkie and there's enough batter left to get you through the whole day.

Last night the well known Elle Style Awards were on and today I'm here to talk about some of the winners and the lovely fashion that occurred on the red carpet.

Winner of the Next Future Icon award, Chloe Moretz made me as jealous as ever dressed tip-to-toe in Stella McCartney and Louboutin heels.

And as predicted the brilliant Stella McCartney was awarded Best International Designer.

Simone Rocha, winner of the Next Young Designer of the Year, was dressed up in her Spring collection.

Nicholas Kirkwood who has also won the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund of £200,000, was awarded with the Best Accessory Designer and he's a well deserved winner I think.

Celebrate! Nicholas Kirkwood with Rosamund (left) and

Roksanda Ilincic won the Red Carpet Fashion award and was dressed in a gown from her own pre-fall collection.

Sophie Ellis Bextor (and her husband Richard Jones) looked effortlessly young and lively with splashes of Springtime colours.

Another Stella creation on Kate Hudson as she wowed in a red straight edge dress.

And finally the wonderful Henry Holland wearing gorgeous jacquard trousers that are just classic Holland.

So thanks for reading and don't you just wish you were there?

Someday I will move to London and get to experience all these lovely events in real life!

Ciara.

A Hint of Spring at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

Tuesday, 29 January 2013

Hello lovelies!

Happy mid-week to you all who are definitely having a better week than I am! Mock exams for the Leaving Cert start tomorrow and instead of studying for English and Maths like a good student I'm writing a post about clothes. Oh well who needs to know about complex numbers and De Moivre's Theorem anyhoo!

The Screen Actors Guild Awards were on last night and I have to say I was very much impressed by the standard of gowns that were worn. A fair amount of blacks, navys and whites were to be noted but as Spring time rounds the corner stylists were very much taking advantage of bright colours too.

Looking very elegant in a Christian Dior gown is the winner of best actress, Jennifer Lawrence.
Despite a brief wardrobe malfunction while making her way towards the stage to accept her award she was picture perfect the whole night.

Winner of best supporting actress, Anne Hathaway looked gorgeous in a midnight black Giambattista Valli gown.

From across the ocean we have Michelle Dockery from the series Downton Abbey in Chado Ralph Rucci.

Amanda Seyfried in a youthful navy Zac Posen gown.

Marion Cotillard supported her French roots in a gown by Christian Dior.

One of my favourites from the night was Jennifer Garner in dazzling gold Oscar de la Renta.

Shout out to Elie Saab and his talents with the gorgeous Nina Dobrev in this bright pink number.

Pink once more this time on Lea Michele in the satin form of a Valentino piece.

That's it from me on the SAGAs. Take note of fresh bright shades of colour whist doing you Spring shopping to add some life into your look.

Thanks for reading,
Ciara.
