Trinity Ball 2016

Saturday, 16 April 2016

Hey guys,

So last night I went to the 2016 Trinity Ball and it was so much fun. I'm not the biggest festival or concert person so I was a little bit hesitant about going until I found out the Kooks were playing. They ended up being amazing live which made the night worth it!

For my outfit I wore a dress from Lipsy that I got on ASOS and some New Look shoes. Also since I'm not the best at hair and make-up I got my make-up done at Estée Lauder and my hair blow dried so safe to say I was feeling nicely glammed up.

I thought I'd share a few snaps we managed to take during the night.

Some tips if you are going to go to Trinity Ball:

1) Bring flats! Cobble stones, alcohol, and mud do not make for a great heel situation.

2) Wear a short dress or make sure you can tie up your long skirt. I brought a bobbin to bunch up my dress and make it midi length.

3) Wear a coat. The last act for Trinity Ball goes on around 4am so during the night it will get really cold and you don't want to be freezing.

4) No one cares what you look like once you're in. Get a nice photo with your heels on before you go in but after that pretty much anything goes. Wear flats, a scarf, a coat, anything!

5) If possible opt for a dress with no sleeves or thin straps just so you can dance freely without your arms being restricted.

So yeah I just wanted to do a quick post about my night. Over all I had a great time at Trinity Ball and it was loads of fun. We were so lucky it didn't rain!

A Ball of of a Time at the Debs

Thursday, 5 September 2013

Hello lovelies.

So on Tuesday the 3rd of September I finally got my chance to dress up all fancy in a long dress and spend the night with my friends at the debs.

After all the time I spent getting ready, getting my make up and hair done I can safely say that guys have it much easier. I'd like to see a guy get an eye liner pencil stabbed in to his eye while his waterline was being tended to! But hopefully all that time was enough to make me look acceptable and suitably 'debsy'.

Here are just a few photos I took on the day.

Since I am practically useless at all things make up I decided to go make use of the girls at Estée Lauder.

Can you see the sun burning holes through my eyes? Yes, it was that sunny.

I have to say the night was an absolute success. Not only did I get to see everyone from my old year before we all part ways at university but I got to do it whilst simultaneously dancing my feet to bits to perhaps the greatest playlist I've experienced! Definitely a night to remember.

To anyone who's just had or is about to go to the prom or debs you'll have the best time once you bring a nice sturdy pair of flats ;)

Hopefully the second time will be the charm on Saturday too!

Thanks for reading,
Ciara xx

Life Changes

Saturday, 24 August 2013

Hello lovelies!

Ok so it's quite a different post today as I thought I'd try out doing a little 'life update' post. As thousands upon thousands of Irish secondary students will know in June 2013 I sat the Irish Leaving Certificate, an exam that has the potential to map out the rest of your life for you. These exams area seriously stressful and can really take it out of the best of people. Fortunately I survived the ordeal and moved on with my summer filling it with travel and friends in a futile attempt to forget that in a few weeks time I would get my results....

Wednesday August 14th came around like a lightening bolt and all of a sudden I found myself driving up to my old school to collect my fate, wrapped up tight and served in a brown envelop with a side of anxiety.

In my opinion grades and results are not the most important things in the world and my approach to the Leaving Cert was very relaxed which is why I didn't think I was going to do well. However I was absolutely over the moon to receive 3 A1's, 3 A2's and a B1 in my exams. That amounts to 595 points out of a possible total of 625 so it was safe to say I was one happy girl.

Getting that amount of points meant that I was offered my first choice of university courses which was Business and French at Trinity College Dublin. I'm not entirely sure if I'll love my course but I'm so excited to get into the university student lifestyle. New friends, new classes, new experiences and tonnes of societies and clubs to get involved in. Yesterday I got my welcome email from Trinity and it got me all excited and ready to start choosing my extra course modules (law, political science or sociology? You tell me?). Freshers week starts September 16th!

On another note as you may have seen last year around this time of year my brother attended his debs which is like an american prom but slightly more formal in that the girls usually wear long flowing dresses and the guys buy corsages. Well, this year it's finally my turn to take a whack at the debs and on Tuesday September 3rd I'll be getting all dolled up to dance the night away with my friends. Here are a few hints as to what I'll be wearing but don't worry I'll be posting up a few photos of the day.

Only about 9 more days to go! My friends have put in so much work and I know it'll be worth it.

Right so if you've lasted this long I'd like to first of all congratulate you for getting through all that and also I'd like to reassure you that I'll be back to the usual posts ASAP. Look out for a university haul coming soon.

Take me to the Prom?

Monday, 27 August 2012

What's up doc?
Do you remember my genius brother I talked about in my last blog? The one who got nearly full marks in his exams? Yeah that one. Well he went to his Debs last week which is like the Prom in America. Everyone goes to the Debs after they finish up with secondary school or high school and it's a very big occasion. All the girls buy expensive dresses and get their hair and make-up done for the day and of course the boys have it much easier because they just have to buy a suit and well, turn up for the day with a corsage. These are some of the pictures taken on the day, not expertly taken by me of course because I wasn't there but my dad stepped in for me.

My favourite dress is definitely the dusty blue waterfall number. Wonder if I can borrow it....

Hope you enjoyed that glimpse into the Irish Debs affair I'll be going next year and hopefully I get a gorgeous dress too.
