Life Changes

Saturday, 24 August 2013

Hello lovelies!

Ok so it's quite a different post today as I thought I'd try out doing a little 'life update' post. As thousands upon thousands of Irish secondary students will know in June 2013 I sat the Irish Leaving Certificate, an exam that has the potential to map out the rest of your life for you. These exams area seriously stressful and can really take it out of the best of people. Fortunately I survived the ordeal and moved on with my summer filling it with travel and friends in a futile attempt to forget that in a few weeks time I would get my results....

Wednesday August 14th came around like a lightening bolt and all of a sudden I found myself driving up to my old school to collect my fate, wrapped up tight and served in a brown envelop with a side of anxiety.

In my opinion grades and results are not the most important things in the world and my approach to the Leaving Cert was very relaxed which is why I didn't think I was going to do well. However I was absolutely over the moon to receive 3 A1's, 3 A2's and a B1 in my exams. That amounts to 595 points out of a possible total of 625 so it was safe to say I was one happy girl.

Getting that amount of points meant that I was offered my first choice of university courses which was Business and French at Trinity College Dublin. I'm not entirely sure if I'll love my course but I'm so excited to get into the university student lifestyle. New friends, new classes, new experiences and tonnes of societies and clubs to get involved in. Yesterday I got my welcome email from Trinity and it got me all excited and ready to start choosing my extra course modules (law, political science or sociology? You tell me?). Freshers week starts September 16th!

On another note as you may have seen last year around this time of year my brother attended his debs which is like an american prom but slightly more formal in that the girls usually wear long flowing dresses and the guys buy corsages. Well, this year it's finally my turn to take a whack at the debs and on Tuesday September 3rd I'll be getting all dolled up to dance the night away with my friends. Here are a few hints as to what I'll be wearing but don't worry I'll be posting up a few photos of the day.

Only about 9 more days to go! My friends have put in so much work and I know it'll be worth it.

Right so if you've lasted this long I'd like to first of all congratulate you for getting through all that and also I'd like to reassure you that I'll be back to the usual posts ASAP. Look out for a university haul coming soon.

Impressive People's Choice Awards

Sunday, 13 January 2013

Good Sunday Lovelies

So right now I'm still sitting in my PJs all wrapped up in a blanket and watching some episodes of good old House. For all you who had an eventful and productive Sunday I salute you.

With the People's Choice Awards all wrapped up and the Oscars just here I thought I'd do a little post on some of the winners and fashion at the PCAs the other night.

First up it Taylor Swift the winner of Favourite Country Artist award.
People's Choice Awards 2013: Lea Michele, Taylor Swift And More

This gown is by Ralph Lauren and its classically gorgeous cut and neckline is right up Taylor's alley.

I'm also loving the shot of light blue from the earrings that gives a bit of youth to the look.

Of course Emma Watson, winner of the Favourite Dramatic Movie Actress didn't fail to impress wearing a dress by one of my favourite designers. Peter Pilotto.

The ever so pretty Chloe Grace Moretz zinged with colour in the latest S/S 13 Simone Rocha daisy dress and I've got to say even though I'm incredibly jealous of this girl you've gotta give her props for pulling off yellow.

Ok so I have to confess Jennifer Lawrence didn't do anything for me in this Valentino number. Granted she did score on her own with awards for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Face Of Heroism this dress really didn't show off her amazingly gorgeous

figure.

Next up is Favourite Comedic TV Actress Lea Michele who really

could not look any more beautiful in this wonderful Saab number.

I'm guessing wild pink will be in this Spring.

And I'm sorry but even though he wasn't nominated for anything I just had to stick in a photo of Mr. Redmayne at the PCAs.

Heck why not throw in Ian Somerhalder and Liam Hemsworth for good measure.

And last but not least we have Kaley Kuoco in a fabulously pretty Christian Siriano frock with frost pink detailing.

So I hope you enjoyed this post about the creme-de-la-creme of the People's Choice Awards I'm actually quite impressed by the standard of designers that were featured seeing as usually you'll only see one or two high fashion names out of the bunch. Well done stylists out there!

Whilst I'm dreading going back to school tomorrow I hope the rest of you have a great week.

Thank's for reading,
Ciara.

Beauteous British Fashion Awards

Wednesday, 28 November 2012

Hello my darlings!

Happy mid-week energy fade! Hope you're all going well and haven't been working too hard. Just in case you're a little bit tired I have a short post for you today.

Yesterday The British Fashion Council celebrated some of the UK's most influential fashion icons at the British Fashion Awards. And of course the level of style was at total 10 out of 10 as is obligatory when this amount of fashion masterminds come together.

Lets get the ball rolling with some of the lucky award winners!

Alexa Chung was awarded the over all British Fashion Award and who could argue with that. With all the wonderful Chanel looks this model comes out with it's a definite yes.

J.W. Anderson won the Emerging Talent Award for the Read-to-Wear category. I'm not surprised seeing how his collaboration with Topshop went down such a treat.

Manolo Blahnik is the winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award.

Jonathan Saunders was awarded the Emerging Talent Award for Menswear.

Roksanda Ilincic and her Red Carpet Award.

Nicholas Kirkwood won the Accessory Designer Award.

Possibly one of my favourite designers Erdem Moralioglu and his award for the New Establishment.

The beautiful Cara Delevingne won the well deserved Model Award a big achievement for this charismatic young lady.

Stella McCartney struck gold with two awards, the Designer Brand Award and the Designer of the Year Award.

Out of all the red carpet fashion I have to say my favourite look was Rita Ora of all people. Perhaps because I love the dusty baby blue tones of the gown and perhaps because it was one of the few garments that wasn't completely black! Maybe the fashion leaders are trying to make black the new black?

Over all the night seemed very splendid and glamorous making me wish I was there to see it all with my own eyes. None the less I can't wait to see who will be the winners next year.

Thanks for reading,
Ciara.

Glittering Glory

Saturday, 10 November 2012

Happy weekend all!

Hope you've been enjoying yourselves and celebrating the weekend. I've been up early helping out at school and after some lunch I thought I'd talk about this season's love of sequins!

As Christmas party dressing is making its appearance; glamorous, fancy, and sparkling pieces have been taking over the shops. And here are a few glittering pieces I'd like to get my hands on.

Firstly my love of 1920's flapper fashion has been awakened once again with this Shimmy Shimmy dress from Free People (my current favourite brand).

Another beaut from Free People is this uber glam crimson number.

Topshop have also hopped on the band waggon it seems and have created a number of sequined pieces to put you in that Christmas-y mood.

And if you those don't take your fancy then pop on to Asos to experience the sequin frenzy over there.

Image 4 of ASOS Panelled Leggings in Pink Sequins

If you shy away from this flashy glam style of dressing why not accessorise with a be-sparkled bag or purse from Anya Hindmarch?

Ebenezer Purse - Satsuma Ebenezer Cross Body - Emerald  Balthasar Flat Clutch - Coal
Marano Dancer - Plum Marano Dancer - Halo
The sequin look is impossible easy to pull off and a perfect statement piece for both casual dressing or evening wear!

Thanks for reading,
Ciara.

Topshop Supports Shelter Box

Wednesday, 7 November 2012

Hello all and happy mid-week slump!

I come to you bearing news on a special Topshop collaboration.

As you all know from previous associations with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and Age UK; Topshop has gained a reputation for giving back.

And so it was no surprise when Topshop announced they were doing a collaboration with the charity Shelter Box to raise funds to support the organisation's work.

Topshop has come out with a selection of charmed bracelets available to buy online and in your nearest store. £1 of the proceeds will be donated to Shelter Box to support its work providing emergency shelter and aide to communities around the world that have been effected by disasters.

Check out some the pretty charms you can buy.

The bracelets are available online here and I would strongly advise you to buy one to help Shelter Box improve the lives of the unfortunate people who have been caught by disasters. I know I'll be sporting one soon!

For more information on Shelter Box just pop on over here.

Thanks for reading guys!

Glas-vegas and Shopping Haul

Sunday, 4 November 2012

Hi everyone!
I know I know I've been a bad blogger and haven't written in so long but this week has be absolutely manic and stuffed with so many things to do I haven't been able to breathe! However I'm back now and ready as ever to get down to business.

As some of you may know on Wednesday I popped over to Glasgow to visit a potential university with a friend of mine and had a grand old day which began at 4:30 AM and finished at 3 AM the next morning! Glasgow actually reminded me of Dublin a little bit primarily because it was cold and wet. But I did enjoy being over there and all the people we met were so lovely!

But of course you can't visit Glasgow without doing a spot of shopping which is why I've put together a little post about the latest pieces I purchased on Buchanan Street and also in Dublin during the last couple of weeks.

So without further adieu I give you the reasons why I'm currently financially broken.

A super cosy jumper from H&M with lovely zip detailing on the back to make it more interesting.

This shirt is from the men's section in Republic and was a total bargain int the sale for £7!

This dress and play-suit below are both from Urban Outfitters on sale for about €30 each which is great value for UO.

I've been searching for a good pair of black leggings to go under long tops like this one here and I managed to find both at Topshop for under €30 each so naturally I bought both.

A pair of black skinny jeans are a staple piece for every wardrobe so I settled on a super comfy pair of Leighs from Topshop once again.

This Autumn I've become obsessed with big jumpers and this vintage-esque loose number caught my eye at H&M.

I've got to say this cardigan from Urban Outfitters is made of the softest material I've touched and feels great on. This was also in the sale for about €30.

I had a little shopping splurge on ASOS a while ago and splashed out for this lined parka to keep me warm in the Artic Winters of Ireland.

I really wanted to buy some accessories but it seems that I always end up spending all my finds on clothes instead which is a tad annoying but Topshop and Forever21 had some great pieces in for this season that are worth checking out.

That's all for me as I have to get down to studying some English poetry for a test I am not at all prepared for tomorrow. My plans to be a complete hermit nerd this mid-term break have fallen to pieces and I have to pay for all my galavanting and procrastinating tonight.

Enjoy the last of the weekend everyone and thanks for reading.
