Isabel Marant for H&M

Thursday, 14 November 2013

Hello lovelies!

Right so it's November the 14th and finally the long awaited release day of Isabel Marant for H&M has arrived. When I heard about yet another high fashion H&M collaboration (and this time with ultra chic Marant) I was particularly excited to see the new looks. I've always thought Marant with her almost basic but punk aesthetic was a great match for H&M and it seems I thought right!

Of course with any high fashion designer you're going to get a few looks that push the commercial boundaries but over all these pieces are very adaptable, I'd even find myself reaching for a good few of them. The only thing I do have to say is that whilst the cuts of the pieces aren't so scary, some of the prints and materials could be questionable. However Marant is a great fan of different textures and mature, provocative prints so I'll have to excuse her.

Check out some of my favourite pieces!

Out of the whole collection I have to admit the coats are the items I would consider paying the big bucks for. So luxurious looking while at the same time bang on the sheath/pure coat trend that's knocking about.

And you can't have a Marant collection without some bold and striking colours. This time we have all sorts of gorgeous reds that are perfect for spicing up a minimalist Winter wardrobe.

And why not add a splash of silver or gold to get in that festive spirit?

I also love how there's a few sports-lux pieces thrown in for all us casual ladies who love a good comfy jumper and a pair of joggers on a frosty cold Winter's day.

I'm pretty sure this collection is being sold a mile a minute so I don't think I'll even get a chance to see them up close and personal. I guess this is the closest I'll ever get to them, a shame really because I've got some Christmas shopping to do....

Let me know what your thoughts are on Isabel Marant's collection for H&M, I'd love to find out what everyone thinks.

Autumn/Winter 2013 Trend Report

Monday, 26 August 2013

Hello lovelies,

So I thought it was about time I did a fashion type blog because I've missed them oh so much. Today I'm going to be going through some of the main trends that appear to be sticking around with us as we move into these cold months, (Only 4 months to Christmas!).

Punk It Out
Boohoo Rebel Trend
Boohoo

Perhaps the big shots in New York who organised the Met Ball Punk: Chaos to Couture were on the right track as even now it's clear this edgy punk trend will be here to stay as mega high street super-brands Topshop and Primark (that's Pennys for all you Irish readers) have quickly caught on to its potential. If you're looking to pull of this look think classic English urban attitude crossed with tartan and 90's grunge. I recommend investing in a good black leather skirt, a strong plaid/checked shirt and some studs.

The Coat
Richard Nicoll

Of course it's obvious that every season another 'must have' coat comes into view, last year if I can remember it was camel? Well this year it's the minimal sheath coat. Straight lines, clean and crisp tailoring and no funny business.

Marks and Spencer

Sugar Plum Fairy
Simone Rocha

This fairy tale trend is so sweet it could possibly give you a tooth ache. Talk about looking at life through rose tinted glasses this trend is all about sherbet shades of rosy pinks, baby blues and pastels of just about any colour. Accessorize with patent leather loafers, rose golds and a lovely pair of cat's eyes sunnies! And if your're still unsure about how to work this look ask Mui Mui, Lanvin and Jonathan Saunders for inspiration.

Texture, texture, texture

This Autumn/Winter to give your look a bit of interest try adding a spot of texture. Everywhere from the high street to the catwalk styles were adorned with combinations of furs, leathers, and ruched fabrics. Luckily this trend can easily be adapted to your everyday style and customised.

Marc Jacobs

I'm sure I've missed out on numerous trends but these 4 numbers are a few of my favourites. If you have any particular suggestions for what is a must buy for this season don't forget to pop it in the comments I'd love to hear them.

I don't know about  you but I'm seriously excited to start wearing cosy warm jumpers and wrapping up in a hat and scarf, bring on the bitter cold!

Freedom & Topshop Reclaim To Wear

Sunday, 23 June 2013

Hello lovelies!

So as of Friday the 21st of June 2013 I am officially done with secondary school and free! Next up on the agenda is having an eventful and exciting summer full of travel and new experiences. It still hasn't dawned on me that I don't ever have to tie up that god awful mint, maroon and green tie again but it's a great feeling. Roll on the college life in September (if I ever make up my mind of what to do).

On the 20th of June Topshop made ripples in the fashion pond again by releasing their second capsule collection with 'Reclaim To Wear' consisting of 'up-cycled' waste materials. The collection's aim is to create a successful way of reducing textile waste and encourage sustainability in the fashion industry.

“The inspiration behind the collection was to turn away from

disposable fashion, giving a new lease of life to disregarded prints

from previous seasons,” explained Stephen Mongan, Topshop

head of sourcing and technical services. www.styleite.com

The collection itself is very relaxed with a slight ethical twist featuring loose floral crops and a boho-chic feel to the colour scheme and a play on lace and cool silhouettes.

Quite a soft and fragile collection created this year I think.

Anyway that's just a little update from me on what's going on with Topshop. I'm off to London for about month on Tuesday to do some work experience (and of course reduce my bank account balance to zero) and I can't wait to escape dank and wet Ireland to actually get a chance to feel the summer sunshine!

An Early Christmas Present from Topshop

Tuesday, 4 December 2012

Happy Fourth Day of Christmas everyone!

It is now socially acceptable to be excited for Christmas and whip out those Christmas albums. In fact I'm currently listening to one of my favourites; 'Baby it's Cold Outside'.

Today Topshop decided to give us all an early present and  finally revealed who was the star of their first ever Christmas film and the identity of the #whosthatgirl hashtag that's been flying about Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook and pretty much every social networking site out there.

But before I tell you who this mysterious lady is I thought I'd give you the chance to give it a guess yourself. So here are some of the clues Topshop gave out over the past couple of days.

Well have you guessed yet? I have to admit I didn't get it right at all but hopefully some of you did.

Here's the answer;

Yes for all those who guessed right it is the lovely Kate Bosworth! A worthy candidate in my opinion as she suits the Topshop edgy slightly boho brand very well.

The film is very old style with a classic black piano and Bosworth dressed in a brilliant burgundy sequined number singing 'Winter Wonderland' all jazzy, blues like.

Check it out here for the full film:

That's all from me today a short post I know but I'm busy with homework and attempting to study for exams. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Ciara.

Glittering Glory

Saturday, 10 November 2012

Happy weekend all!

Hope you've been enjoying yourselves and celebrating the weekend. I've been up early helping out at school and after some lunch I thought I'd talk about this season's love of sequins!

As Christmas party dressing is making its appearance; glamorous, fancy, and sparkling pieces have been taking over the shops. And here are a few glittering pieces I'd like to get my hands on.

Firstly my love of 1920's flapper fashion has been awakened once again with this Shimmy Shimmy dress from Free People (my current favourite brand).

Another beaut from Free People is this uber glam crimson number.

Topshop have also hopped on the band waggon it seems and have created a number of sequined pieces to put you in that Christmas-y mood.

And if you those don't take your fancy then pop on to Asos to experience the sequin frenzy over there.

If you shy away from this flashy glam style of dressing why not accessorise with a be-sparkled bag or purse from Anya Hindmarch?

Marano Dancer - Plum Marano Dancer - Halo
The sequin look is impossible easy to pull off and a perfect statement piece for both casual dressing or evening wear!
