Fooding it Up in San Francisco

Wednesday, 30 July 2014

Hello lovelies

So as promised I'm coming back with an ultra foodie post for yous all so make sure you've had a snack because after reading this you're bound to have the nibbles.

When my sister and I found out we were going to be heading across the pond to the USA there was only one clear though in our minds and that was, IHOP. Not the Golden Gate Bridge, not The SF Ballet, nothing fancy or cultured at all but just pancakes. We even looked up the menu and had decided what we were having before we left.... So it was of the utmost importance that we went to IHOP to satisfy our need for classic chain restaurant American food.

But we weren't disappointed let me tell you that. I had strawberry and she had chocolate. We went half and half and it was a match made in heaven.

The next stop on our foodie agenda was an ice cream place in Berkeley where my older sister went on her J1 last year. We were going to head up that direction anyways to see where she was living last summer so why not fit in a few snack stops too? :)

Cream is the name of this cookie/ice cream emporium where you can have an ice cream of your choice snadwiched between two delicious soft and thick cookies. Eimear went for mint chocolate chip ice cream with a double chocolate chip cookie and then a chocolate chip and caramel cookie.

After walking about Berkeley for a bit and taking in the sights, the dollar store, people talking to themselves and a good vegetarian restaurant, it was time to visit the University of California, Berkeley which is rated one of the top 10 universities in the US.

It just so happened that we passed by Sheng Kee's, a really nice Asian bakery on the way that Claire liked to visit last year so I mean how could we not stop by and pick up something?

Then is was finally time for a walk about Berkeley Uni and I can see why college is so expensive in America. This place is huge! Speckled in green areas and huge trees the campus was crawling in people milling about on the grass enjoying the sun.

Sunglasses- Burberry
Jumper- Topshop

A real T-Rex skeleton just chillin outside the library. No big deal ;)

And is if we hadn't eaten enough food already we had to make one more stop. A stop I was particularly excited about as it included frozen yogurt. Frozen yogurt from Yogurt Park.

Look so good right? Tastes even better!

If you're not hungry by now I give you props. If you are hungry I give you permission to go get a snack :)

New Instagram Addiction

Friday, 4 January 2013

Hello Lovelies!

Ok I have to admit it, I'm addicted. And they say the first step it admitting it so I've taken it.

It all started when I got an iPhone for Christmas. At first I was reluctant to get Instagram because I knew me being me I'd instantly become hooked. And of course I was right.

Feel free to follow me, my name is fazed_and_dazed and I make an effort to post good photos everyday. Here's a taste of my amateur Instagramin'

Hope you are all enjoying the last of the holidays and making the most of your remaining days of freedom.

Toffee Crisp Chocolate Chip Cookies

Saturday, 29 September 2012

Today I'm giving you all a break from Fashion Week posts and I've decided to treat you to a yummy cookie recipe. Lately school and study work have been really heavy going so my friend and I wanted to drown our emotions in chocolate and cookie goodness and here's what we came up with.

Here's what you need;
2 Packets of Betty Crocker's Chocolate Chip Cookie mix
7 Pack of snack size Toffee Crisps
1 Tub of Betty Crocker's Chocolate Frosting
Water
Fudge Chunks

First of all you need to pre-heat the oven to 170 degrees Celcius and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
Next you need to add tablespoons of water to a mixing bowl of the cookie mix while stirring at the same time.

Keep adding water and stirring until it looks like this and is slightly sticky.

Cut up the snack size toffee crisp bars into thirds about an inch thick and pad on a layer of the mix.

When you're finished the cookie balls should look like this.

Pop them into the oven for 17 minutes and let them cool for 5-10 minutes or else they'll be too gooey in the middle. When they're cooled you can frost them with chocolate deliciousness and fudge chunks and after that tuck in!

They are just perfect for a late night of movies and a cup o' tea.
Hope you enjoyed and will try them out.

Ciara.

Slutty Chocolate Brownies

Wednesday, 22 August 2012

I just came to say, Hello!
So now that I'm searching for new things to blog about I have taken to going through older photos from the beginning of the Summer and I came across some from when my friend and I took on the challenge of being kick ass bakers. We got the lovely idea of baking gorgeous chocolate brownies with a recipe we got from another blog called The Londoner. It's such a brilliant blog which is written by the beautiful Rosie so check it out! But continuing on with our baking adventures here's the recipe:

Betty Crocker's Chocolate Brownie Mix
Betty Crocker's Chocolate Chip Mix
Betty Crocker's Chocolate Cake Paste
Water
4 Eggs (The amount of eggs will vary depending on what mixes you use so check the box)
2 packets of Oreos
Love and Care
Butter ( for greasing up that baking dish!)

So what we did was make up the cookie mix first and lay it down as the first layer in the baking dish and then continued to place out the next layer which were the oreos. Two packets should leave a few left over which we snacked on to keep our energy up.

Next make up the brownie mix and pour it all over the oreos making sure to cover all the little spaces and corners.

Leave in the oven at about 190 Degrees Centigrade for 35- 40 minutes and if you can resist temptation for long enough, leave to cool.

If you want to make these brownies extra slutty (which we did) you can paste on some delicious Betty Crocker's Chocolate Cake Paste.

Simply scrumptious!!

I have to say one brownie would have sufficed for the evening but my complete lack of will power urged me on to have a second. They were just too good to resist. Thanks to Rosie and her blog The Londoner for providing my friend and I with this great recipe and thank you for reading.
More soon,
Ciara.
